With apologies to basically everybody, I made the utterly typical<br>

consider this the hallmark of a potentially sound proposal.<br>

I especially want to apologize to Paul, whose ideas I cribbed<br>
mercilessly (without being sure to what extent he's cribbed from mine in<br>
turn, or vice versa), but whose very helpful document on etherpad I<br>
totally failed to properly integrate into this stub of a wiki page. I<br>
sincerely hope that someone will correct this oversight.<br>

Basically, I just had to get this out before I got caught up going round<br>
in circles on this fine mailing list and went mad. I really hope it at<br>
least gives us something a little more concretely implementable to<br>
debate.<br>

Please please please go edit the wiki page if you have *any* thoughts on<br>
the subject, or else please air your grievances here and we will have a<br>
go at them. Thanks much to everyone who responded to my original email<br>
and/or is still paying attention at this point. ;)<br>
